Since Windows was automatically shutting the game down near 12GB of RAM usage (~75% of total system RAM) and was not going over 12GB even with page file enabled, I would assume that Windows 10 likes to keep a ~25% headroom for itself depending on the application? Or could it be the game engine? Looks like even if you do have the physical RAM, Windows will start swapping regardless to maintain some headroom.Īnyways, got another kit yesterday, so I'm now sitting at 32GB, turned page file back OFF and now total system usage spikes at close to 13GB now while playing the game and obviously not getting any "low memory warnings" since it now has plenty of headroom. I turned page file ON and everything was fine, game would spike the total system RAM usage to 12GB without issues but would not go past 12GB which I found odd since I knew that the game was trying to access more RAM but Windows was shutting it down automatically just before total system RAM usage hit 12GB. When walking around in the city of Prague that is normally when RAM usage spikes toward the 12GB and as soon as it was getting really close to 12GB, Windows was shutting the game down and I was getting the "low memory warning" message from windows saying that it "closed the application".
